Mission Statement
North Arm State School Library aims to provide an environment that:
- Provides an organized and well managed library which meets the educational and recreational reading needs of students and the professional needs of teachers
- Encourages and enriches students reading for pleasure and develops an appreciation of literature
- Supports and promotes the development of information literacy skills that enhances life-long learning
Our Library
Our library is open every day during first and second lunch breaks for general borrowing, quiet reading and planned activities. Students are also rostered according to year levels to access the computers for project work and accessing school approved games.
During Library time for Prep-Year 3, students can borrow books, listen to a story and view new books that have been purchased. Students are encouraged to use a library bag to ensure our library resources are kept in good condition. Each student is permitted to borrow two books for two weeks.
New books are always being added to our Library. These purchases are determined by the children's interests and requests made by the teachers based on the units of work that are being covered.
Each year we hold a book fair where the parents and children can purchase books supplied by Scholastic Books. This is an excellent means of obtaining resources for the library and supporting students' love of reading.
Information Communication Technology
At North Arm State School, ICT is integrated across the curriculum at all year levels. All teaching spaces have interactive whiteboards or data projectors. Students use computer and other technologies as an integral part of their learning. Classes have regular sessions using Information Communication Technology to enrich their learning, communicate and promote creativity as life-long learners. Students create presentations that include the use of robotics, photostory, audacity, web page creation, graphic tablets, digital microscopes, iMovie and Microsoft Office Programs and more.
