Our school

We are a community school with a strong orientation towards care for each other, and meaningful learning for life with a focus on academic outcomes. The purpose of this school is to enable our students to eventually go on to secondary school, and life beyong, with the following understandings, skills and abilities.

  • Excellent academic attainments and a love of learning.

  • A willingness to be active citizens, and to go forward respectfully and with confidence into their changing world.

  • An understanding of what they need to know, and to do, to ensure the sustainability of the earth.

The social climate at North Arm has been purposely developed over many years to provide an environment that is conducive to student learning. We are an enrolment managed school of 387 students who live by the school rules which pertain to safety, respect and learning.

Students treat each other very well, parents feel valued and are visible in the school, and staff skill and morale levels are high. These are all hallmarks of highly effective schools and are the basis upon which we move children on as learners. Our schools context is matched to the framework of the Australian Curriculum which is being implemented in a staged manner.

We are proud of the way that our participation  in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program, and the Queensland Sustainable Schools Initiative, enable our students to learn actively.  Our schools physical and outdoor education programs, and arts focus, are also important underlying tenets of this school's operation.
